The Republic Public Development Authority recently received notice of approval for a Rural Business Enterprise Grant totaling $96,458 to purchase property for light industrial park development.  
Ferry County recently received notice of approval for a Rural Business Enterprise Grant totaling $72,844 for a rural business assistance project.
The Ferry County Public Hospital District received the USDA Rural Utility Service Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant in the amount of $111,722 to purchase videoconferencing units within the tri-county region.  Units have been ordered and received.  We are now seeking funding to purchase simulated medical training units, such as SimMan or MediTech.

PDA Light Industrial Park Public Development Authority, City of Republic, local businesses TEDD is working with PDA, the city of Republic, and local businesses on developing a light industrial park. We received USDA RBEG fuding to purchase the property and do some earthwork, and we are now seeking funding to develop buildings and more infrastructure.
Buckhorn Project Community Advisory Board Kinross, Ferry County, Community The Buckhorn Project Community Advisory Board (CAB) is a group of individuals representing a diverse cross-section of the local community. The CAB is working with Kinross Gold toward the successful opening of the Buckhorn Mountain Mine.

Monthly meetings on the 2nd Thursday of each month at 6:30pm at the Eagle Cliff Grange.

 

Transportation City of Republic, Ferry County We are working on securing funding for creating a sidewalk to the school. This sidewalk will tie in with the Golden Tiger Pathway (County-owned) that goes all the way to Pine Grove. Some funding secured, more funding needed.
Rural Business Assistance

We recently received a USDA RBEG grant to initiate a rural business assistance project that will hire a part time student to organize a "mystery shopper assessment" and provide marketing assistance to local businesses.  The project will also provide funding for individual business signs and downtown business signs for some of the communities.

TEDD is assisting the County and City with a project funded by RTPO dollars that will create a physical comprehensive mapping system of all existing infrastructure and all proposed infrastructure.

The project was awarded $7,500 in RTPO funding to complete the project.  
Shop the Frontier
 
TEDD is assisting the non-profit organization called Stone Soup in a new business demonstration project called Shop the Frontier. This program will offer business classes, business supplies, technical assistance in web design, project marketing, and product distribution for local entrepreneurs. The project estimates that 90 jobs will be created within 3 years.
The project recently received funding from USDA RD to expand to other rural areas.
Community Outreach
All committees and groups
TEDD is continually working on community outreach efforts in Ferry County by meeting weekly with the County Commissioners and coordinating a working draft of the "Ferry County Project and Committee Matrix." The matrix is designed to keep each group updated on what other groups are doing in order to combine efforts where possible and minimize duplication.
