NEWS

1. Positions: As of October 1, 2007, TEDD has filled the AmeriCorps positions, for Stevens County-Sarah Haden, Pend Oreille County-Jessica Maple and Ferry County-Jacob Tresham to develop and promote tourism in the Tri County Region.

2. SCORE Representative Scott Douglas: TEDD is dedicated to providing business assistance to the Tri-County area through the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE). This is a critical service to the community that supports small business and entrepreneurial development.

3. Active Community Environments: The Washington State Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) have teamed up to advocate Active Community Living Environments (ACLEs). The goal is to encourage people to be more physically active and to live a healthier lifestyle. TEDD is conducting community assessments and working with communities to prioritize ACLE needs. TEDD is currently working to assemble an Advisory Task Force to carry these activities forward.

Infrastructure Projects

Project Partners General Info Status
Hewescraft Expansion Stevens County, City of Colville, CTED Sewer and water services are needed for Hewescraft, an aluminum boat manufacturer, to expand its operations, adding an additional 30 new jobs

A fast track application is being made to the CDBG Community Investment Fund with the hope of installing the new system this year.
Chewelah Sewer/Water/ Paving City of Chewelah, numerous state and federal agencies Replacement of aged sewer and water lines and downtown revitalization and paving Additional funds still needed. Work is scheduled to get underway this summer.

Colville Airport City of Colville, WSDOT Aviation The Colville Airport has significant economic potential for the area if developed prudently. Development and expansion opportunities are being explored. An advisory committee is now working to address the Colville Airport land use incompatibility issues and to explore if and how the airport could be developed or expanded.
